This eucalyptus tree was quickly outgrowing its space. The owners hadn’t appreciated just how fast this species grew when they originally moved in with the tree being a fairly young sapling. Eucalyptus is a broadleaved tree that retains leaf cover all year round, but also sheds leaves all year round as it grows. This along with its striking bark makes it quite a popular choice with homeowners but it can also be a constant battle to keep the ground tidy.
The decision was therefore made to remove the tree, including grinding the roots, and a new tree was planted in its place.

Working with the customer we concluded on a smaller Prunus ‘Pink Perfection’ to be planted in the spot the eucalyptus used to inhabit, as it is a much smaller species with plenty of interest in the leaves as they start a bronze colour when first bursting out through green and finish a rich orange colour in autumn. That is on top of the beautiful drooping clusters of pink blossoms that feature in late spring.
